Common questions

Where does the deadline data come from?

From each council's published Firebreak / Fuel Hazard Reduction Notice. We link to the official notice on every council page and stamp the date we last retrieved it. If a council updates its notice, we update ours. This is a guide. Always confirm with your council's official notice before clearing.

What law actually requires this?

The Bush Fires Act 1954 (WA), section 33. It lets every WA local government issue an annual notice requiring owners of applicable land to clear firebreaks by a deadline the council sets. Each council's notice specifies the deadline, the firebreak width, and the maximum fine.

How do you pick which contractors are listed?

Two ways. Contractors list their own business directly (the founding cohort is free for the first season; subsequent listings are an annual season pass per the v1 pricing). Contractors that landholders have asked us about appear as a "coming soon" listing until the business claims it. Listings are never paid to the top.

I am a contractor. How do I get listed?

Use the "List your business" link in the header. We will ask which councils you service and which firebreak services you offer. Listings go live within 1 business day.

What if my council is not on this site?

Request your council and we will add it next. In the meantime, go directly to your council's website and search for "firebreak notice".
